How We Calculate Casino Safety Scores

Every casino on Brandbing receives a safety score from 0 to 10. The score is deterministic — the same inputs always produce the same result. There is no subjective override or paid placement. This page explains every component of the formula.

License Tier Scoring

The licensing authority is the single largest factor in a casino's safety score, contributing 0 to 5 points. Regulators that mandate segregated player funds, independent audits, and responsible gambling enforcement score highest.

5 pts UKGC / MGA — UK Gambling Commission or Malta Gaming Authority. Strictest player protections globally.
4 pts Swedish / Danish — Spelinspektionen or Danish Gambling Authority. Strong EU-based regulation.
3 pts Gibraltar / Isle of Man — Requires holding two or more tier-2 licenses (Gibraltar, Kahnawake, Isle of Man, Alderney).
2 pts Curacao / Single Tier-2 — Curacao Gaming Authority, or a single tier-2 license. Lower regulatory standards.
1 pt Other — Any license not matching the tiers above.
0 pts No license — No licensing data available.

Community Warning Penalties

Moderator-reviewed community warnings reduce a casino's score. Each verified warning deducts 1 point, up to a maximum penalty of -3. Only warnings that have been reviewed and confirmed by a moderator count — unverified reports from the forum do not affect the score. This prevents score poisoning while ensuring that legitimate player complaints have a meaningful impact.

Editorial Review Bonus

Casinos that receive an editorial rating of 4.0 or higher from Brandbing's review team earn 1 additional point. The editorial review covers bonus fairness, withdrawal speed, customer support responsiveness, and game quality. Casinos without an editorial review, or those rated below 4.0, receive no bonus from this component.

Forum Sentiment

The forum sentiment bonus rewards casinos with clean community records. A casino with zero moderator-reviewed warnings earns +1 point. A casino with 1 or 2 warnings earns +0.5 points. Three or more warnings earn 0 points from this component. Note that this is separate from the warning penalty — a casino with 3 warnings would lose 3 points from the penalty and gain 0 from sentiment, for a combined community impact of -3.

Score Tiers

The final score is clamped between 0 and 10. Based on the result, each casino receives a label and color tier:

8.5 – 10.0 Excellent

Top-tier license, strong editorial review, no community warnings.

7.0 – 8.4 Good

Strong license and editorial data, with minor community flags at most.

5.0 – 6.9 Average

Licensed by a recognized authority, limited editorial data or some community flags.

3.0 – 4.9 Below Average

Weaker license, multiple warnings, or incomplete regulatory compliance.

0.0 – 2.9 Poor

No recognized license or severe community warnings. Exercise caution.
